Updated over 7 months ago

ISO 37001 is an international standard dedicated to establishing, implementing, maintaining, and improving an anti-bribery management system (ABMS). It provides organizations with requirements and guidance to help prevent, detect, and respond to bribery, ensuring compliance with applicable anti-bribery laws and voluntary commitments.

The standard applies to all types of organizations regardless of size or sector, including public, private, and non-profit entities. It covers a wide range of bribery forms, including direct and indirect bribery, active and passive bribery, and facilitation payments.

ISO 37001 promotes a culture of integrity, transparency, and trust by providing a systematic approach to mitigate bribery risks. Key components include anti-bribery policies, leadership commitment, staff training, risk assessments, due diligence of projects and business associates, financial and non-financial controls, reporting and monitoring mechanisms, investigation procedures, and continual improvement processes.

The 2025 revision enhances provisions on compliance culture, addresses emerging issues such as climate change impacts, and clarifies the role of the anti-bribery function, aligning ISO 37001 with other management systems standards.

Implementing ISO 37001 helps organizations reduce legal and financial risks associated with bribery, strengthen their reputation, and foster fair and stable market operations.
